FAAST Seminar – Pilot Proficiency and WINGS – and – Stabilized Approach and Go-Around
January 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Pilot Proficiency and WINGS:
Proficiency training benefits both professional and general aviation pilots. Pilots who participate in regular proficiency training are much less likely to experience accidents. Completion of any phase of WINGS satisfies the 14 CFR 61.56 requirements for flight reviews.
Stabilized Approach & Go-Around:
Many general aviation accidents have resulted from loss of control and/or collisions with obstacles or terrain during approaches for landing. Studies suggest that stabilized approaches are highly effective in reducing the number and severity of loss of control events. General aviation pilots should review stabilized approach criteria, go-around procedures, and decision points before each landing to reduce reaction times when faced with a potentially hazardous situation.
