Northwest Indiana EAA Chapter 104 Eagle Soars Program
 offers an  program when approved by the membership

This program provides funding for flight training to solo to a selected candidate thru a Chapter 104 designated flight training provider. Chapter 104 reserves the right to cap the amount provided to a reasonable sum.  The Chapter has approved this program for 2009.  The successful candidate will be informed at our annual awards banquet held in late November early December.

 
 

EAGLE SOARS

EAA Chapter 104/student/candidate prerequisites

This program is restricted to ages 16 thru 19 

1.      Student must be 16 years old to be eligible for a student pilot certificate( FAA Regulations 61.83).

2.      Student will have taken and passed a flight physical with a duly authorized FAA Certified Physician; will have received their student medical ( student pilots’ license FAA Regulations 61.85).  Solo flight requires CFI logbook endorsement, medical signoff on medical certificate(FAA Regulations 61.87).

3.      He/she will have passed FAA ground school and FAA Written Exam when starting.

4.      Student must take evaluation check ride.  Student will receive payment in blocks.

5.      Any student losing interest in the program must immediately notify Designee.

6.      Student must submit a written essay on why they feel they want to become a pilot, and what their long time goals are in aviation.

7.      Student will be subject to interview with CFI for: Physical fitness; performance capabilities and mental attitude.

8.      Student will remain drug and alcohol free during entire period. (Also FAA requirement.)

9.      Student will answer questions relating to aviation, personal preferences and the Eagle Soars program which  will be judged by committee members.

10.  Parent/guardian will be questioned regarding students’ involvement in the program.

11.  Training will adhere to FAA regulations on solo maneuvering requirements.

12.  This sheet to be signed in presence of Designee/Committee person as listed below, each person receiving a copy to remain on file.

The above will be reviewed by Committee, points awarded and recipient determined within 10 days of last interview.
